This Morning Show shakeup as Alison Hammond steps in to replace Phillip Schofield
ITV’s This Morning saw another show shake-up on Monday after Alison Hammond presented the daytime program alongside Holly Willoughby.
Alison, who usually hosts the popular Friday show with Dermot O’Leary, has taken on the role of back-up to Phillip Schofield as he continues to self-isolate after contracting Covid-19 last week.
Seeing the change happen, fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts and many seemed to love and be excited about the transition.
One social media user wrote: ‘Love Holly and Alison this morning.
Another said: “YAY!!!Alison #ThisMorning”
Meanwhile, a third wrote: “Holly…and Alison…oh my days!”
Although Phil disappeared from the studio, he contacted Alison and Holly via video link.
When asked how he was feeling, TV veteran Phil assured both women he felt perfectly fine.
He explained: “I’m absolutely perfectly fine.
“A week ago I had a mild sore throat for an hour which prompted me to take a test and it came back positive and it’s been positive ever since,” he joked.
“But I feel good, I’ve been going through the boxes. I’ve been cooking, I’ve wandered around thinking about what I should do next.
“I sat in the garden for half an hour because the sun came out.”
Interrupting him, Holly sounded that he might be bored but Phil agreed.
Speaking about missing Dancing On Ice for the first time, the presenter said it was “weird” that he wasn’t hosting the show with Holly.
Phil said: “By the way Hols it was really really weird but what a brilliant show last night.
“It was so weird watching it, I sat down with a gin and tonic and watched the show.”
On Sunday evening, Phil took to Instagram to share his positive coronavirus tests with his fans online and confirmed that Stephen Mulhern would be replacing him on the show.
Stephen also made an announcement regarding the change and expressed his excitement to take on the role.
The Catchphrase star said: “I can’t wait to be back alongside my good friend Holly this weekend.
“Those are big shoes to fill and I wish Phillip a speedy recovery.
“I’m a huge Dancing on Ice fan and for just one night I’m thrilled to be at the edge of the rink and watch the action unfold. It’s going to be amazing!”
