Ripon Rotary plans to cook chili, auto show October 30
The Ripon Rotary Club Foundation will be hosting a Chili Cook Off and Car Show on Saturday, October 30.
According to John Mangelos of Ripon Rotary, the proceeds will go to business school scholarships for graduates of Ripon High and Ripon Christian High schools.
He noted that Rotary awarded $ 1,000 scholarships to students at two local high schools last year. “It turned out that $ 6,000 (in scholarships) went to six graduates, three at RC and three at RHS,” Mangelos added.
Rotary welcomes participants to this year’s Chili Cook Off and Car Show. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Those in attendance can try five different chili samples and have the chance to vote for their favorite sample for $ 5.
“For $ 20 you can get four votes and more samples,” Mangelos said.
The first prize for the best chili is $ 500 – the second prize is $ 300 while the third is $ 100. The registration fee for each participant in Chili Cook Off is $ 50.
Registration fees for Auto Show participants are $ 25 in advance and $ 30 on the day of the event. All makes and models of cars are welcome. Call 408.702.7259 or email [email protected]
Trophies will be awarded, including the Best of Show as well as second and third places.
All event participants will receive commemorative ribbons.
The main sponsors who won “Habanero” honors for donating $ 1,000 for the event are Pizza Plus (Gold Dust Pizza), David Hall Masonry Inc. and the local VFW Post 1051.
The Ice Cream Emporium, Travaille & Phippen, Inc. and Integrity First Realty and Tri Valley Lending were the sponsors of Jalapeno (donation of $ 500).
