Dermot O’Leary offers This Morning caller a job on the ITV show with a daring live-air invite
This Morning presenter Dermot O’Leary offered a surprised caller a job on the ITV show after taking part in a phone call on Friday.
Former X Factor host Dermot was once again at the helm of the daytime institution at the end of another week, alongside Alison Hammond.
Midway through Friday’s episode, Dermot and Alison were joined in the ITV studio by regular guest Gyles Brandreth, for a chat simply called Ask Gyles.
One of the callers who phoned to speak to the trio was a man called Ellis, who asked broadcaster and writer Gyles what he would change in the world.

Gyles replied that he wanted to “make Putin disappear and bring peace to the world”, before adding: “I think I would like everyone in the world to have a positive passion, something that they love make”.
Gyles referred the question to Ellis who told him, “My passion is barbecuing.”
Dermot reacted, “Ellis, you are a man after our hearts,” before asking, “Ellis, how are you for next Friday?”
Quick to respond, Ellis replied, “Free, as long as you’re willing to buy the ingredients!”
Dermot told her, “I know someone who is,” before Alison added, “Let’s get Ellis in!”
“Go to this kitchen to cook us some good barbecue dishes, that would be good.”
Clearly enthusiastic about the idea, Ellis replied: “That would be a pleasure actually.”
Ending the call, Alison reiterated, “We’ll get you in,” before Ellis wished Gyles a belated happy birthday.
Viewers were quick to support the idea of Ellis making a cooking stint on This Morning, with a tweet: “Bringing Ellis to cook”, alongside some smiley emojis.
