Sherri Shepherd shared,

While it’s daunting for Shepherd to step into Wendy Williams’ time slot, she assured, she’s in no way trying to compete with her predecessor. In an interview with Variety, when asked to step into Wendy’s shoes, Shepherd shared, “I think you start having a little trouble when you start comparing yourself to someone else. If I take all this pressure, like Wendy leaves, Ellen leaves, I’m going to go crazy.

She added, “All I can do is focus on who Sherri is and what got Sherri to this place where she is right now, and it’s been just God and me, so I can’t compare me to Wendy. I’m very, very different from Wendy. If you like Wendy, I really hope you like parts of “Sherri,” and I’ll be out trying to prove it to you. And I hope if you like “Ellen”, you will like “Sherri”.

The Wendy William Show

The Wendy William Show was an iconic talk show where Wendy Williams talked about celebrity gossip and updated audiences with the latest gossip from the entertainment world. I can’t wait to get back to New York to host the show and merge everything I love…pop culture, talk, entertainment and comedy. I’m grateful to Debmar-Mercury and FOX for partnering with me on this show and looking forward to this new journey..”

The video begins with Sherry expressing how grateful she is to come to the day. She says she wants the audience to come for 60 minutes and have a good time. Moreover, she says that whether you consider her your girlfriend, cousin or best friend, she assures you that you will definitely have fun. Also, she says she wants youngsters to watch her and says aunt knows better. Sherri wants the show to inspire while making the audience laugh. Its objective is to give joy and hope in sixty minutes.

Jennifer Hudson didn’t win “American Idol” 18 years ago – she came in seventh place. But that didn’t matter: she was soon destined for a formidable, award-winning career. The superstar became the first and only former “Idol” to win an Oscar for acting, winning Best Supporting Actress in 2007 for her stellar role in “Dreamgirls.” Fast forward to 2022 and Hudson is now an EGOT, having also won a Tony Award, Grammy, and Daytime Emmy along the way. Now she’s adding another credit to her lengthy resume: talk show host.

Hudson will debut “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on September 12, which also happens to be the star’s birthday. But why a talk show?

“I come from a very talkative family. Oh my God, we like to talk, says Hudson Variety. “I’ve been blessed to do so many things in my career…I want to help someone else get a platform.”

Hudson says the music will be heavily integrated into “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” which will welcome original “Idol” judge Simon Cowell, Mickey Guyton, Magic Johnson and Viola Davis among its first guests in its first week.

“The Jennifer Hudson Show” will be helmed by the production team behind “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and is even shooting from the same studio on the Warner Bros. lot. where DeGeneres taped her talk show for 19 seasons.

In tackling the conversation, Hudson works with a familiar face. The executive who first discovered Hudson on “American Idol” is now behind his next talk show: Mike Darnell, now chairman of Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, was in charge of all reality TV shows at Fox when “Idol” was in its heyday. Years later, when “Ellen” (which Darnell was overseeing for Warner Bros.) was ending, Darnell zeroed in on Hudson as the perfect candidate to cast a new speaker.

“Obviously I’ve known her for a very long time. I knew his personality. I knew she had authenticity and was a quick learner,” Darnell says. Variety. When he first met Hudson on Zoom to discuss the possibility of a talk show, Darnell says he found her to be the same person she was so many years ago.

“No one I’ve known in my career has gone from a reality show to a movie set and then won an Oscar,” he marvels. “I mean, when you think about it, she went from seventh place on ‘Idol’ to starring on ‘Dreamgirls’ and then winning the Oscar for it. It’s extraordinary.

Besides her talent, the executive thought Hudson had the chops to carry her own talk show because of her authenticity and life experience. “She’s been through a lot in her life, so she has a lot to talk about with people — incredible ups and downs,” Darnell says.

Hudson will become the second “Idol” alum to host her own talk show, following Kelly Clarkson, whose “The Kelly Clarkson Show” will enter its fourth season next week.

Hudson also joins a growing number of women of color who are dominating the day from Tamron Hall to Sherri Shepherd – who is launching her own talk show, “Sherri,” on the same day as Hudson next week.

“I know I’m in great company and I’m so proud of them and excited to be on this journey at the same time,” Hudson said of her fellow talk show hosts.

Hudson also adds that Hall inspired her years ago, without even knowing it. Before Hall became a staple on “Today” and then launched her own Emmy-winning talk show (now in its fourth season), she was a star on Chicago’s Fox station WFLD.

“Tamron Hall was the host of Fox News Chicago when I was on ‘American Idol,'” Hudson recalled. “I swear I would go to Fox News Chicago every week, to the point where I felt like the anchor person. So that was part of the inspiration, and she was part of it.

Another woman in the daytime space who has inspired Hudson is “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg. Hudson says they go down in history together as the “only two African American women” to have achieved EGOT status, and “we are also the only two talk show hosts to have EGOTs.”

Hudson admits that it’s not yet established that she achieved that rarefied prize status. Recalling the Tony Awards earlier this summer, when she won for the production of the Broadway musical ‘A Strange Loop’, Hudson shares, ‘I heard them sing ‘EGOT! EGOT!’ And I’m like, ‘Huh? Oh my God. That means I just won an EGOT. …I’m still processing this, and I need to figure out what it means, what it represents.

Besides Goldberg, Hudson counts Oprah and Jenny Jones among other talk shows hosting vets she admired on TV. “Talk shows are an integral part of our culture, an important part of our homes,” says Hudson. “Growing up, watching my mom watch ‘Oprah,’ then ‘The View,’ all those shows, even up to Jenny Jones. I’m from Chicago, so I used to watch Jenny Jones on TV.

Now, Hudson hopes to have a similar impact on viewers when they tune in to her show.

“I want them to feel like they have a place to come celebrate, get away, have fun, comfort, rest, everything you need is here on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show,’ here on that couch,” Hudson said. “Girl, even if you need something to eat, I got you!”

Jennifer Hudson has long defined what it means to be multi-hyphenate in the contemporary climate. And now his illustrious career is about to add a new dimension as the superstar sets sail with his own daytime talk show.

Well baptized The Jennifer Hudson Showthe highly anticipated series is powered by the team behind Ellen.

Premiere on Fox stations on September 12 (his 41st birthday), the EGOT WinnerThe arrival of in the discussion space promises to be unique.

This grape juice caught up with the force, who dove into the details of what to expect from the show, inspired by the likes of Oprah Winfreydream guests and much more.

Watch our Q&A above and head below for more from The Jennifer Hudson Show…

That Grape Juice: Why was a talk show the next step you wanted to take in your career?

Jennifer Hudson: Everything I do is driven by my passion and love for what I do. And that’s how I got here. And I love to talk. If I don’t sing, I speak. And so, it’s like, okay, you can roll your camera, but I’m going to keep talking to people with or without. I like people. I love the energy they bring and give. I love, I love hearing people’s stories, and their passions. It’s one of my favorite things about what I do is being around people. And watch them do what they do and what excites them. And that inspires me, that’s where I draw my inspiration from. And then I had the chance to realize so many things. I want to give somebody else the stage, you know, and no matter how talented you are, or what you want to show your show for, if you want to party, if you want to escape, I want you to be able to come to my show so you can do it.

That Grape Juice: There have been so many talk shows over the years, how do you distinguish yours from others?

Jennifer Hudson: Usually I feel like all I can do is be me, you know, be Jennifer. And from my perspective, and I feel like that’s what will help make the difference. Because again, I want a more natural, organic feel. And I want to be able to implement all my other facets like the characters. Like, you don’t know who you’re gonna get. I may have a bob [hairstyle] one day, the next, like, what girl is she today? It depends on how I feel. It’s emotion-based, or if I’m playing, I’ve got a set, but once I walk into the room, your energy can send me somewhere else. So you can become a part of the show. You know I wanna hear from you, girl, why are you wearing that outfit? What did it take for you to get here? I want to hear from everyone, I want everyone to be part of the space. So to say what it’s gonna be, I need you in the room.

That Grape Juice: What other talk show hosts have inspired/influenced the way you will approach your own show?

Jennifer Hudson: You know, talk shows are just ingrained in us, you know, you can’t talk about anything and not be inspired by Oprah, you know what I mean? Or all the talk shows, everything, The View. it is so. I am a sponge. So, it’s just that it’s soaked in me. But at the same time, my job now, I oddly, is just to be myself. And I say it like that, because for 20 years I played Effie in Aretha, I sang on everybody’s songs. And it’s like, well, this time it’s my turn to just be… me. So even though I’m inspired by all the other talk shows, I just want to be Jennifer.

That Grape Juice: Who are your dream guests?

Jennifer Hudson: Oh, I’m a dreamer. So that’s a great answer here. I get to meet so many people and be inspired by so many things, it varies. And it’s continually changing, or it’s continually growing. Like, I’m inspired by talent. So, it’s like maybe it’s a kid that I see like, ‘Oh, why don’t you come and do that on my show.’ And I’m happy that I can have a platform to give them a platform. Because I like to give the spotlight to others. And so, I’m grateful to have a platform to do that. But when I think of celebrities, I think to myself, which one do you want me to ask? Do you want me to go to the cinema? Or do you want me to make music? Or, or, like, sports? As if I was in all these things. I love old school. I was sitting with Smokey Robinson doing Respect. And we were talking about Aretha but then he got into a fuss. I want to hear everything [from him]. But then I wanna sit with Megan [Thee Stallion]. I want to see your Cardi B. I want to see Drake. I feel like all of these things are pieces of me. Nicole Kidman. So it’s so wide. You know, and then I definitely want Simon Cowell because we have a lot to talk about. You know what I mean? Well, it goes on and on. And then I [will] listen to people and say “hey, who do you want me to talk to?” And I will answer it too.

That Grape Juice: How will audiences see another side of Jennifer Hudson through this new show?

Jennifer Hudson: Because you’ll see Jennifer, the person, not the actress, playing someone or the singer singing the song, but the person and that’s what excites me the most. [People will hopefully say] here is who Jennifer Hudson is and get to know the person. Like, I’m your girlfriend. Come sit on the sofa, come see me. And I’m glad I have a place you can come. You could come to my house too [laughs]. I love that I can finally just be me, Jennifer.

That Grape Juice: What are your main goals for The Jennifer Hudson Show?

Jennifer Hudson: I’ve always loved seeing people come together in one accord and in positivity. And I feel like that’s the time that you know is needed. We live in a time where everyone… ooh baby, there’s a lot going on in the world. And I want this to be a place where we can talk about these things. We are not going alone. It doesn’t happen without it in the middle of it by ourselves. Or if you feel like partying, if you feel like getting away from it all. If you want to relax, whatever. You can come to my show and feel comfortable enough to just be and that’s what I want to be this bridge to connect everything.

The talk show world is experiencing a renaissance as the new premiere of Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talk show draws closer. The new show will not only replace “The Wendy Williams Show” on set, but it will also take over its physical operation center. The promotions of the show are already at the top. Word is in the air that the show has been fully booked in the fall.

Things are also starting to fall into place in the studio setup. A huge poster of Shepherd’s show, which has yet to air, has been installed exactly where Wendy’s once stood. It was set up outside the studio on Thursday night in New York. Former host of the show, Wendy Williams also revealed that she will not be watching the new show.

Wendy Williams won’t watch the new daytime talk show

Wendy Williams revealed in a recent interview with Fat Joe that she loves Sherri Shepherd, but won’t be watching her new show. The 58-year-old American writer says there’s nothing new to see because she already knows what Shepherd will do, and it’s not her thing.

Sherri Shepherd secured Wendy’s spot in February. She became next after becoming a permanent guest on the show. The American actress born in 1967 succeeded Wendy Wiliams for health reasons.

Wendy has been sick for a while and the show needed a replacement. Shepherd was the next viable candidate and she took over while setting things in motion. The taping for Sherri Shepherd’s new daytime talk show begins this Thursday. The premiere is scheduled for the 12th of this month.

New layout of Sherri Shepherd’s exhibition studio

Although Sherri Shepherd is moving into Wendy’s old studio, sources reveal that the space for the new show is currently being revamped. According to the source, the revamp is coming soon enough. The set already displays bright colors. Most of which consist of blue and yellow tones to complement the host’s personality and the show’s signature color.

When the studio for Sherri Shepherd’s new show opens, her celebrity pals will be at the premiere, added the source.

Watch out, Whoopi Goldberg: there’s a new EGOT coming to speak during the day.

Premiering later this month in the daytime slot once occupied by Ellen DeGeneres, The Jennifer Hudson Show is about to see the Emmy, Oscar, Grammy and Tony winner take on a familiar face: his compatriot american idol former student Kelly Clarkson.

But as Hudson reveals in a new interview with the Los Angeles Timesthose who hope for a new Rivalry a la Dave vs. Jay between the two dynamos will be sorely disappointed.

Hudson describes Clarkson offering her support and guidance after her new show was announced, and says she “feels no competition” with Clarkson, with whom she has always felt a connection.

“We are two very talkative people, she explains. “We just played together recently, and I don’t know if we talked more. [or] singing. We entered the industry the same way.”

Hudson added that she is also close with Tamron Hall and Sherri Shepard, against whom she will also be competing. “We all support each other, she explains.

As for what we can expect from Hudson’s new show, Hudson says she’s not one to plan.

“I like a more organic approach,” she explains. “The questions will be prompted by my curiosity. It depends on the energy in the room. A member of the public can become the guest. They can become the performer. I want people to feel comfortable and I want cover life. We are I’m not always gonna feel optimistic every day. We may be struggling. I’ve been through the highest of highs, the lowest of lows and everything, and I want that the series reflects this.

The Jennifer Hudson Show premieres in syndication on September 12.

“I’m not going into this show trying to be someone other than Sherri.” It’s one of Sherri Shepherd’s main goals for her new daytime talk show Sherri. Go in The Wendy Williams ShowStarting September 12, the syndicated show will be Shepherd’s first solo venture on daytime television after successful airings on View and as Wendy guest.

As the Sherri the connecting line teases: “Sherri’s warm, relatable, and engaging personality will shine through as she delivers her comedic take on current entertainment, pop culture, and hot topics with daytime audiences. As America’s favorite girl-next-door, her comedy-focused show will feature celebrity interviews, informative experts, inspirational moments and incredible everyday people to create an hour-long escape from entertainment.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference for the upcoming series, Shepherd explained his priorities for the Sherri feel. First and foremost the show will be live – a feature she loved View. And it will be edifying above all.

“We had to look at things through the lens of the funny, through the lens of joy and love, because that’s who I am,” she said. “I’m not trying to ‘get’ anyone, I’m not trying to be mean to anyone. My outlook on life is always through the prism of love.

To that end, don’t expect the host to focus on politics. Sherrias Shepherd described it, will be your daytime escape.

“I don’t think I need to look into politics. You’ve got a plethora of shows you can lean into to get your politics – #1 my old stomping ground, View“, she shared. “I am your escape from misfortune and gloom. Sometimes you want to escape, you want to relax and you want permission to breathe and feel good. That’s me! “

Speaking of ViewShepherd explained the appeal of solo hosting versus a panel to TV Insider, saying hosts like Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey make her confident she can handle solo riding (the latter, Shepherd says, is one of the people she turned to for advice when signing Sherri).

“It’s always nice to have people under you and holding you, because you don’t have to do all the work,” says Shepherd. “I’ve always liked the camaraderie that there is when it comes to a panel. You can share the work. When you get the backlash, you can share it. When it’s just you as a solo artist, it’s just you. There is no net. It all depends on me. It’s a lot of responsibility, but I’ve been on the panel, I’ve co-hosted, so I’m up for the challenge of doing it myself and showing you what I’ve got.

So what will Shepherd do to make people feel good? First and foremost, it pays it forward by nurturing up-and-coming artists like Whoopi Goldberg did for her years ago. During the press conference, The sex life of college girls alum said that early in her career, when money was tight, Goldberg paid for her clothes one day, telling her to pay other struggling artists for them when she could afford it. That kindness and support in a pivotal moment coming from a legend like Goldberg has stayed with Shepherd ever since. And she will follow Goldberg’s instructions using Sherri as a platform to give people their big break.

Sherri will feature a weekly comedy segment called “Sherri’s Laugh Lounge”, during which a comedian will have the opportunity to perform a set for the audience in the studio and at home. Shepherd said she hopes it helps comedians launch their careers, like Johnny Carson and Jay Leno did on their late-night staples. Other goals she has for the show are welcoming Oprah, Michelle Obama, and Goldberg as guests (her dream lineup), as well as hosting get-togethers for The Jamie Foxx Show, Everybody loves Raymondand Girlfriends.

Shepherd has been in the industry for a long time, but this one-man daytime talk show venture has been an unfulfilled dream for nearly 20 years. Now in her 50s, Shepherd wants women her age to know that “dreams are not dead”.

“Maybe they’re just postponed, maybe you just have to grow a little bit into this dream,” she told reporters. “It’s been over 18 years in the making for me. I want to show women who are older, it’s not over. That dream you had on the Chinese shelf, you can still achieve it. This It’s not too late. In fact, it’s probably better, because you’ll appreciate it more and you have the wisdom, the confidence to go for it.

Sherri is produced by Jawn Murray (Shepherd’s producing partner and one of his closest friends) and David Perler (The Wendy Williams show, the Rosie O’Donnell show) with Suzanne Bass, Joelle Dawson and Fernita Wynn join as co-executive producers. Recorded live in New York in front of a live studio audience, Sherri is produced and distributed by Debmar-Mercury and has been licensed in 98% of the United States

Despite the drama that has erupted on the show this season – the petition to remove Whoopi Goldberg from the show for her Holocaust comment and the shocking replacement for Meghan McCain – the American talk show has a 1.7 rating. It topped all other network and syndicated daytime talk shows, ranking No. 1 in households and total viewership for the 2021 to 2022 season.

His success score binds him with “Dr. Phil” in homes, averaging 2.411 million viewers for the season. “Dr. Phil” comes right behind “View” in total viewers for the entire season, averaging 2.405 million total viewers, followed by “Living with Kelly and Ryan” with 2.357 million viewers.

Other talk shows that made the top rated list for the season include “Today Hour Three”, “GMA3”, “Today with Hoda & Kotb”, “The Talk”, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show“, and “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” Meanwhile, “View” did not exceed adults 25-24, the central demo of news programs; instead, he got fourth place with “Living with Kelly and Ryan” at the head of the chain. In this category, “Today Third Hour” came second while “Dr. Phil” followed closely.

In addition, for the last programming week of the season, “View” ranked at the top with a 1.6 rating and 2.243 million total viewers. It was ranked ahead of “Live With Kelly and Ryan”, with a 1.5 rating and 2.129 million total viewers, and “Dr. Phil” with its 1.4 rating and 1.988 million total viewers. NBC’s “Today Third Hour” (1.3 ratings, 2.022 million total viewers) and CBS’s “The Talk” (0.9 ratings, 1.363 million total viewers) were also added to the category.

Executive producer Brian Teta said in a statement that the season aims to celebrate the history of “The View”, adding that there is “no better way” to convey its “impact and relevance” than by making history. The show has indeed made history since 25 years later, and for the second year in a row, it is the most-watched daytime talk show in the United States.

Teta pointed out that whenever something happens in the world, viewers tune in to hear how the co-hosts on “View” replied. He went on to note that that year there were several exciting activities, including finding a “new conservative co-host”, welcoming former co-hosts for the milestone anniversary and celebrating an exciting week in the Bahamas.

Still, as the midterms approach, the gang is ready to “prepare for more interviews and political debate” and welcome two new Republican co-anchors. You may recall that the 2021-2022 season of “The View” featured Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and weekly contributor Ana Navarro.

Meanwhile, the next season, which premieres in September, will feature all the women, including former White House staffer Alyssa Farrah Griffin. There’s also some upheaval to expect as the teams behind “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and those in charge of “The Wendy Williams Show” will return with Sherri Shepherd’s “The Jennifer Hudson Show” and “Sherri” respectively this fall.

Viewers form petition to remove Whoopi Goldberg from “View”

Speaking of the drama attached to “View” during the 2021 to 2022 season, The Blast reported that Goldberg, one of the co-hosts, received backlash following his outrageous remark about the Holocaust on the show. Viewers created a petition at the time to have her removed as they noted that she had made “many remarks about race” but those she made to the Jewish community were “disgusting”.

Regarding her allegedly anti-Jewish remarks, she said the Holocaust was not about race but was about “the inhumanity of man to man”, adding that the parties involved were “two groups of people white”. While she apologized for the misrepresentation, viewers weren’t so forgiving as they demanded her removal from “View” for his “verbiage and repugnant acts”.

Shortly after, The Blast shared another story on the talk show, revealing Meghan McCain’s replacement, Alyssa Farah Griffin, who was the White House communications director for former President Donald Trump. Griffin’s past working relationship with Trump has drawn great controversy and criticism from others “View” co-hosts, which would have reduced his chances of landing a spot on the show.

There was no confirmation of the news at the time; however, a source mentioned that an announcement would be due before the end of the season.
